What does a coach do?
A business coach assists and guides the business owner/manager in running a business by helping them clarify the vision of their business. Business coaching is a process used to take a business from where it is now to where the business owner wants it to go using a series of questions and exercises to encourage out-of-the-box thinking. I can consult for you (meaning I do some of the work) if that’s what is needed but I prefer to coach you so you learn how to do it yourself going forward.
What kind of coaching do you do?
My focus is on business owners who are overwhelmed or burnt out from the daily grind of growing a business, and wish for an easier, more effortless way to experience results. I do different styles of coaching depending on what I feel is best for you. I’ve seen owners and managers get in their own way too many times, including myself. Your employees matter a lot, so I often discuss them in my sessions. I’ve seen the power of hiring a GREAT employee and the look of awe, appreciation and bottom-line impact they can have on a company. I also have witnessed and been a part of many firings of poor employees and rarely heard anyone say “I wish I hadn’t done that”!
What is your style and what do you expect from me?
I believe what sets me apart is that I’m going to be direct with you. I’m going to call you out if I think you’re not walking your talk, possibly making you uncomfortable. Difficult conversations have to take place for true change to happen. What I’m passionate about is seeing you grow and gain the confidence that can permanently change yourself and your company when you have a desire to do it.
I’m big on simplicity and realize that not everyone will resonate with this. Many business owners feel strategies and tactics need to be complex in order to validate them. Those are the plans that get stuffed in a drawer. I believe there is a better and easier way. Simplicity does not mean ‘simplistic’. It means everyone understands, everyone believes and everyone’s accountable.
I expect you to do what you say you’re going to do. Change won’t happen just by hiring me It requires work and commitment on your part. Without it, things usually go back to the old normal t. Who wants that?
What do you charge and how long does it take?
I have three pricing models I usually use, but it’s most important for me to see if we have a good fit. Depending on what my role is and what needs to be fixed it, could be as simple as meeting 3 times a month for 3 months or it could take a meeting every week for 6 months. I do most of my coaching on-line but have coaching plans that incorporate quarterly site visits. If you don’t see any progress or are unhappy, all my contracts can be canceled at any time. I ask for a commitment but will never hold your feet to the fire.
